One episode into binge watching season 2 of Orange Is the New Black I have to write this post to inform you that you should MOST DEFINITELY watch this series. Season 2 is available on Netflix since yesterday. Yes, the whole season! And the episode titles are pretty promising: Hugs Can Be Deceiving, Comic Sans, Appropriately Sized Pots, Little Mustachioed Shit.
Watching the awesome first episode I was reminded of how great the story about Piper Chapman, who has to go to prison 10 years after she committed a crime while travelling around the world with her girlfriend, is. She’s drawn right out of her kind-of-perfect life and tries to understand the prison world in her own way — and it is just fun to watch. Oh, it’s also based on the memoir of Piper Kerman and was created by Jenji Kohan, who brought us Weeds.
Season 1 was incredible and in the spirit of this amazing day for TV nerds everywhere I challenge you to binge watch season 1 if you haven’t yet. GO!
- Jason Biggs (Jim from American Pie) as Larry Bloom, Piper’s fiance
- Laura Prepon (Donna from That ’70s Show) as Alex Vause, Piper’s ex-girlfriend, also an inmate
- Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager) as Galina ‘Red’ Reznikov, the Master Chef of the jail’s kitchen
There will of course be a longer presentation of this show soon.
